So I had a thinking; I like the name "Once and Future Geek" so hey, why not make that the name of my blog. So I did! And why not register the domain name? So I did! And so I did!
That doesn't mean I'm going to post regularly; it means I intend to, but reality will probably disappoint. Not your fault. Kind of my fault, but I'm mostly focused on how I can make it your fault. Still working on it. If there's a volunteer scapegoat, feel free to step forward.
Oh, hell. Seems that there's a "THE Once and Future Geek" out there, also on blogger. And looking back, seems that s/he was using the name first. So, ok. I snapped up the domain before you. Gotta admit, it's a good one. And having the "The" makes it allude better to the T.H. White book. So all that's conceded.
Honestly, my version of "once and future geek" might never be anything; it's about as small as your blog, which seems to be maybe abandoned anyway (about three months before I initially felt very clever for thinking of the phrase you'd been using as a title for more than six months). Still, when I'm big and famous like I hope/plan to be, I think Once and Future Geek makes for a fantastic blog title for an author. I'm sure you agree; if you're the same TOaFG that comes up in Google under FanFiction.net, then you're a writer as well and presumably thought that it was a good title. Great minds thinking alike, I suppose.
So if you decide you need it, we can talk; I'm not a domain-squatter, I'm not going to charge $6,000 for it or anything. I paid $10; I'll take $10. And I didn't check off auto-renew, so if I let it lapse you can get it in a year without having to even ask. Sounds fair, right? But you would probably want the "the", can't blame you, I happen to think the URL works better without it (it's long enough anyway, yeah?) but you might not care a darn thing about having this domain. Fine enough by me. It's not like there are hundreds or even dozens of people trying to find our respective blogs and getting the wrong one.
Better stand back, folks. We're two titans of geekdom, and if we don't fight over the domain we'll fight over the word "the" until it breaks.
Incidentally, why do they say "great minds think alike"? In all of history, the "great" minds usually think in unconventional, unique ways. Da Vinci and Machiavelli were contemporaries, and great minds, but very different thinkers. There's not a lot of support for such an idiom. And yet I find chances to say it all the time! Could it be that I'm secretly a moron!?

DirecTV Wants Me Back
DirecTV wants me back in a bad way, and they're willing to make it seem like they're bending over backwards for it.
A little backstory: we canceled our satellite service a few weeks ago. We watch Hulu and Netflix, and we're pretty happy with that. It seems that the people of DirecTV don't understand that though. How can you be happy without regular TV? Don't you realize that it's TV?
